Florian Pertzborn 

PhD MMus PosGrad DipMus DipMusL

Is currently Principal Bass with the Concerthouse Orchestra Orquestra Sinfonica Casa da Musica and professor of double bass at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts ESMAE/IPP.

He graduated under Michinori Bunya at the University of Arts in Würzburg in Orchestra Performance  and Pedagogy, received his Post-graduation in Solo Performance under Ichiro Noda from the Frankfurt Opera House, obtained a Master of Music Performance Degree in Solo Performance and Performance Research under Michael Wolf at the University of Sheffield and a PhD in Performance Science from the Universidade Catholica do Porto - Escola das Artes and the University of London - School of Education.

He was appointed as the first double bass professor at superior level in Portugal, co-rganized the first national double bass convention and the first international double bass competition.He recently appeared as a professor and performer at the Universities of Oslo, New Zealand, the Pennstate University, the Conservatoire de Paris, Universities of Berlin, Bloomington, Houston, Iowa, Indianapolis and Michigan.  

Associate researcher in performance sciences at the CITAR - Centre for Science and Technology in Arts of the Catholic University of Porto and  a Board Member of the  State Foundation of Science and Technology FCT. His projects have been appreciated by the ISPS - Royal College of Music - London, The London University, Schott International, The Doublebassist - Orpheus - London, PerMusi - São Paulo  the IPP Forum in Porto and the CITAR Research Centre.

Guest Principal Wolfgang Güttler, former Principal of the SWR Radio Orchestra with the Bass Section of OSPCM.  

He also gave a Masterclass at the ESMAE/IPP.

Double Bass Instruments of the  OSPCM Section

4 String: Domenico Busan Model by the  French Luthier Christian Nogaro. 

He made many adaptations such as a flat back and a 5/4 Size 

5 String: Alessandro Gagliano 5 String Model also from Christian Nogaro.
